Donna Bonilla Wheeler is a Latine Indigenous writer and director working in film, stage and TV. She focuses on stories of diverse women and marginalized groups, in off-the-beaten path or heroic situations, exploring humanity, foibles, and the power of authenticity. Themes also touch on boundaries and personal agency. Works are Nicholl SFs, Gotham No Borders, Slamdance, Sundance Collab, Stowe, Sidewalk and PageCraft Labs, NYSAF Workshops, and MIPTV/Cannes invited projects. Her short film, The Girl Next Door was awarded Grand Jury honors at Mystic Film Festival, Jury Award at Silent River, REMI Award at Worldfest Houston, and Honorable Mention at Cine Pobre. Her murder mystery mockumentary, Death of a Saleswoman, sold at Cannes / AFM / Berlin markets and streams globally on major platforms. Donna created and leads the #MentorLatinaDirectors Fellowship Program, and its vibrant community of Latina-Indigenous film/TV directors. She is also a classically trained violinist and experienced skydiver.

Vasomotor Rhinitis The film's central theme is the condescending attitude of a simple civil servant towards high-ranking government officials. The short film was based on Anton Chekhov's "Death of a Civil Servant" story.
The film's main character, a man, sneezes in a concert hall and puts a high-ranking official in an embarrassing situation. Despite apologizing, the main character feels a slavish fear that ultimately proves fatal to the man's life.

He also served as an editor and creative producer on "The Cricket Kings of Queens", a 30 minute documentary that was an official selection at the Manhattan Film Festival and Breckenridge Film Festival and was featured by the BBC World Service. He most recently worked at Business Insider, where his work gained two Webby Award nominations and a NATJA Silver Award.
